At Emergency Services, you will be assessed by a triage nurse. You will be seen by a physician based on your triage assessment, which measures the severity of your condition or illness. You may be referred to another hospital for Mental Health Services.
St. Mary’s Counselling Service
St. Mary’s Counselling Service provides outpatient services for individuals in the Region of Waterloo who are concerned about alcohol, drugs, or gambling.
Professional counsellors help individuals review their lifestyle, identify changes they might like to make, and help them develop the necessary skills to make those changes. Referrals to residential treatment programs or community programs are provided. Consultation is also available for family members or friends of individuals who have issues with alcohol, drugs, or gambling.
Services are free of charge. Funding for the programs is provided by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Addictions and Mental Health Branch.

All counselling sessions are by appointment only. They are unable to provide immediate appointments.

Clients arriving at the agency under the influence of alcohol or drugs will have their appointment rescheduled. Transportation by taxi to the Withdrawal Management Centre will be offered. In the event of disruptive behaviour, the police will be notified.
