Preschool Support Services

Preschool Support Services provides services to parents and caregivers of children in (or about to enter) licensed child care settings.  This is where you can find the information you need, from learning about quality child care or child development, to learning ways to help your child deal with specific concerns.  This Program also provides a link to services and supports for young children when parents or caregivers identify concerns about the child’s development through our Special Needs Access Point (SNAP) at 519-741-0076.

We work together with parents and caregivers in licensed child care programs to guide and support a child’s social, emotional and behavioural development. To reach Preschool Support Services, call 519-741-1122.

Along with our core programming, Preschool Support Services also provides the following initiatives:

Resource Centre

Information is available in ways that work best for you. We have books and videos in the Resource Centre (located upstairs in the Front Door Offices), and we also offer workshops and meetings with a skilled professional.  The Resource Centre is open Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and Wednesdays 8:30 am to 8:00 pm.  Come and visit us.

Special Needs Access Point

The Special Needs Access Point (SNAP) is the single point of access to special needs services for children, birth to age six, attending or planning to attend licensed child care programs in Waterloo Region.  SNAP takes referrals from child care programs, community agencies and parents who have a concern about their child’s development, and then links families to the most appropriate resource, support or service. kidsLINK is the host agency for SNAP and is one of seven partners in the Childcare Special Needs Resourcing Partnership.

To make a referral or to get further information about eligibility, contact the SNAP co-ordinator by telephone at 519-741-0076 or e-mail
