Early Identification/Early Intervention Program (EIEI)

We’ve developed an innovative, school-based collaboration with the public and Catholic school boards to strengthen the social and emotional well-being of young children in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3. These Early Identification Early Intervention initiatives include class-wide social skills instruction, individual or small group sessions and workshops for teachers and parents.

The Early Identification/Early Intervention Program is offered in select schools each year in collaboration with the two school boards in Waterloo Region. Providing children with strategies to deal with social and emotional issues in a positive, proactive way, the program is usually provided to a classroom or to a group of children within a school. The school boards work with the Early Identification/Early Intervention Program to select the schools to be served each year.

Tools for Life®: Relationship-building Solutions

Tools for Life® is a curriculum for Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3 teachers with an accompanying resource kit that is fun and highly interactive. The program progressively develops more sophisticated skills in the areas of self-understanding, self-management, interpersonal communication, and relationship problem-solving. Through the use of common language and consistent strategies to build a positive school culture, Tools for LifeTM provides foundations for character development, conflict resolution, peacemaking, and bullying prevention.

Tools for Life® Parent and Child Workshop

This highly engaging, fun workshop allows children who have participated in the Tools for Life® program at school to share their knowledge and skills with siblings, parents and caregivers. With the same strategies and language taught in the schools, they can be used successfully at home.
